Bubblegum Batman '66

The 55 cards (fronts only) from the 1966 Topps Chewing Gum Batman set. Information from www.oldbubblegumcards.com:

Batman Series 1 - known to bubblegum trading card collectors as Batman Orange Backs or Black Bats, has a total of 55 cards in the set. Each card is a full color hand-painted image by several artists, the majority by pulp cover veteran Norm Saunders (Mars Attacks) and from pencil drawings by Golden Age comics artist Bob Powell. The verso features a short storyline that follows the illustration.

  1. I actually remember these and had a few, but I never saw them all. Collecting such stuff as a little kid was well-nigh impossible in those days.

    Thanks for the post!

  2. From the first time that I saw some of these, as a child, I wanted them. Meanwhile, Mr Door Tree actually owns some of the original art! How I envy him!

  3. Mythical Monkey, I know that feeling, having driven my son from store to store looking for GARBAGE PAIL KIDS cards.

  4. Am I the only one who thinks the Joker looks like Liberace? He would have made an excellent Joker, too.
